Software Bullet Is Sought to Kill Musical Piracy

The RIAA has decided to play hardball on the issue or file-sharing. According to this article, they are looking at ways of sabotaging computers that download illegal music. Nevermind the fact that such a practice would be illegal itself. This truly demonstrates how desparate the industry has become.

Parts of Campaign Finance Law Struck Down

In a major victory for free speech, a three-judge panel from the U.S. District Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit has struck down major parts of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform bill. This sets up a showdown at the U.S. Supreme Court later on this year.

It was an ill-conceived law to begin with, so I’m not surprised that it’s being struck down. I’ll admit that we need to reform campaign finance, but this wasn’t the way.
