Calling for Weis’ Head
It’s a tough year to be a Notre Dame fan. Now, I know that I won’t get any sympathy from most people because Notre Dame, like the Yankees, has enjoyed a lot of success over the years. It also enjoys the benefits of that success in the form of a TV deal and virtually unlimited access to alumni support. However, the team has yet to win a game this year, and, at times, has looked like a really bad Division II team. All that said, it seems a little premature to be calling for head Coach Charlie Weis’ head on a platter.
Weis had a great first season, essentially using Tyrone Wilingham’s players. He had a decent second season, again using mostly players that he did not recruit. Now, he’s being forced to play with his own recruits, and he’s realizing how tough recruiting actually is in college football. As much as I hate to see the team facing the prospect of going 0-8 to start the season, I also realize that they will be a MUCH improved team next year. I’m willing to pay the price as a fan this year, knowing that it’s a necessary part of the growing process for this team.
In the meantime, I’ll latch onto the success of my wife’s favorite team and cheer for the Florida Gators.

GO GATORS!!! It will be your turn soon.
Heya Marcus,
I just added your blog to my reader. I didn’t even know you had one, and here you are blogging since before I was knee high to a gnat (bloggerly speaking).
As a professional yourself, I thought you might appreciate my clumsy opening debut on a podcast.
It is only after listening to my voice on the air, that I realize your impression of me that one day was spot on. How y’all put up with me back then I can’t fathom.
