Ten things that won’t change (no matter who gets elected)

This is a great list:

1. America’s relationship with China: Next time a candidate promises to get tough with Beijing, you may want to remind them of the trillion or so dollars that we owe them.

This is actually an issue I’m looking forward to see McCain and Obama deal with. Whether it’s McCain’s maverick spirit or Obama’s desire to please everyone, either style will be different than the last 2 administrations’ approach to China.

3. Dependence on foreign oil: Promising energy independence is the easiest way for a candidate to seem both environmentally responsible and security-conscious. In the real world, unfortunately, it’s not happening any time soon.

Again, I’m not sure which part will have a better grasp of this issue. And again, it’s going to have to be a new approach, because we’re running out of options when Chavez can saber rattle and drive up the cost of oil by $7 in a single day.

How Long Would You Last?

This video is from about a year ago, when an editor at Forbes magazine went without cellphone, e-mail, and Blackberry for a couple of days. He couldn’t handle it.

With the Blackberry upgrade and outage this week, this is one of those issues that is raising its ugly head. How tied are you to your digital devices? How long would you last?
